Royal Caribbean Cruises the ‘Independence of The Seas’ returned to Southampton’s City Cruise Terminal early this morning the 15th May 2018 after having completed a 2 day channel cruise taster for the media, travel agents etc.
Then later in the day she departed on her first cruise to kickstart the new 2018 summer cruise season from Southampton since having her multi-million refurbishment. She left the City Cruise Terminal just after 16:30pm for a 2 Night / 3 day round-trip Royal Experience Cruise to Le Havre.
Then a tug “Phenix” which is based at Fawley Oil Refinery provided a water display escort for ‘Independence of The Seas’ as she slipped away from the cruise terminal. Then ‘Independence of The Seas’ sailed past ‘AIDAperla’ which was in the QEII berth and headed down Southampton Water for her cruise to Le Havre.
