Emergency Medical Evacuation
Emergency medical evacuation is the coverage for transportation to the nearest qualified medical facility that can provide adequate care in case of a serious illness or injury while traveling abroad and if the nearby facility can’t provide adequate treatment.
Such coverage is very useful while traveling abroad and for travel to the U.S.
For example, if you are traveling by road, get into an accident and there are no facilities available nearby or easily reachable, you may need to be evacuated by air to the nearest qualified facility.
If you are on a cruise and have a heart attack, the clinic onboard may not be able to provide adequate treatment.
If you are traveling to certain parts of the world where medical facilities are poor, you may need medical evacuation coverage to be transported to better facilities.
If you have an excluded medical condition, the insurance company will not pay for the medical expenses, nor will the insurance company transport you back to your home country so that you can be treated at low cost.
